You all know the trope

Its the not the destination, it’s the journey.

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

A variation on focus on the process, not the product.

Think quizzically with me for a second, how often do you zoom out and relish in the life you are experiencing today?

You know really sit back and smell the proverbial roses of your journey so far?

We are always so busy, in such a hurry to arrive we forget the zest is in the journey, and the joy? is in the process.

For example, I was so obsessed with planning for the future that anxiety ate me alive — before I could even take a step forward!

I was so focused on becoming a doctor in that elusive “someday” that I lost sight of how much I truly love learning in itself. So stressed and worried I wasn’t “doing enough” towards my goal, I burnt out and wasted more time.

3. Your perception is malleable

1. Get hooked on now

We spend so much time with rose-coloured glasses on, seeing the person we simply must become we forget the importance of the processes that get us there.

New obsession — balance.

Instead of giving up planning for your goals entirely, there is definitely a balance to be found.

Ambition is a fantastic driver, a driver we can strive to keep caffeinated.

Ambition is important!
However, we need to find balance, rather than living our lives hellbent on the end goal.

Instead, we can emphasise the ambition we give to the process rather than the outcome.

Successful people enjoy the journeys they embark on, irrespective of whether they reach their destination or not.
